The foundation of this legacy was laid by Dr. Rajesh Gupta, a highly respected ophthalmologist who has devoted his career to serving patients from Varanasi and the surrounding regions. Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Rajesh Gupta has performed more than 100,000 cataract surgeries, helping countless individuals regain their sight. His dedication extended beyond routine clinical practice, with years of selfless service at several charitable eye hospitals and community eye camps across Varanasi, ensuring that quality eye care reached underserved sections of society.
Today, this legacy is being carried forward by the next generation of ophthalmologists—Dr. Shantanu Kumar Gupta and Dr. Manisha Mishra—who have further strengthened Shantanu Netralaya by expanding it into a comprehensive superspeciality eye care centre.
Both doctors have more than 10 years of experience in ophthalmology and have individually performed over 20,000 ophthalmic surgical procedures. They completed their postgraduate ophthalmology training followed by three years of dedicated superspeciality training in their respective fields at Guru Nanak Eye Centre, New Delhi, one of India’s largest and most reputed government tertiary eye care and teaching institutions.
